A Vulnerability Scanner Package systematically identifies, validates, and tracks security weaknesses across the current environment by correlating real-time asset inventory data with authoritative CVE intelligence. The package maps discovered assets (hosts, applications, containers, cloud resources, and third-party services) to their exact configurations—OS versions, installed software, libraries, exposed services, and certificates—then evaluates them against relevant CVEs using version-aware, context-driven detection rather than generic signatures. Findings are enriched with severity (CVSS), exploitability signals, asset criticality, and exposure context to prioritize risk accurately. The scanner operates on a continuous assessment model, ingesting live vulnerability feeds and vendor advisories to detect newly disclosed CVEs as they emerge, automatically re-evaluating impacted assets without manual rescans. Results are normalized, deduplicated, and lifecycle-managed with timestamps, evidence, and remediation guidance, providing a closed-loop process that ensures both existing and future vulnerabilities are continuously discovered, validated, and tracked as the environment evolves.
